Where We Meet is an exhibition of landscapes in soft pastel, using bold colour and energetic marks. The canvases rarely contain discernible figures, but Amy’s vivid palette and restless marks create a sense of animation — as though registering the frequency of passers-by just out of sight. Up close, the pastel marks seem splintered and chaotic; but from a distance the unblended jagged lines seem to coalesce. The exhibition’s title, Where We Meet, evokes the idea of stories played out within these landscapes: encounters, rendezvous and crossed paths. Many of the works depict transitional or communal spaces, shaped by movement and memory. The title also suggests the paintings themselves as sites of encounter — spaces where artist and viewer meet.
